Brown Derby Lounge Patio Nears Reopening at Hollywood Studios

Theme Park Report

The outdoor Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios appears to be nearing the end of an upgrade project, with its new overhang, ceiling fans, and lighting now in place. The patio remains closed to guests, however, and Disney has not announced when it will reopen. BlogMickey reported on September 1 that the overhang had been fully covered by a red awning matching the canopies on the Hollywood Brown Derby building. Ceiling fans have been installed at regular intervals beneath the structure, while wrought iron lantern fixtures line the underside and hang from its support columns. The patio is still separated from the guest walkway by rolling planters topped with hedges. The main Hollywood Brown Derby dining room has continued operating normally during the work. The lounge’s walk-up bar remains in a temporary location near the former Starring Rolls space. It moved there after construction began in June, when the project was reported to include a new overhang and other upgrades. Work on the structure became more visible in July, when new support columns and concrete footings were installed along the patio. With the awning, fans, and lighting now installed, the project appears to be progressing toward completion. BlogMickey noted that an earlier goal had been to reopen the patio in early September, but that timing has not been confirmed by Disney. Until the patio reopens, the outdoor lounge area will remain inaccessible while the temporary walk-up location continues operating nearby.
