Crews have removed much of the exterior facade and begun taking off the roofing at Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop in Disney Springs, according to WDW News Today. The location is undergoing a major refurbishment while a temporary Ghirardelli shop operates in Town Center.
Patterned wall panels have been removed from most of the building, although a diamond-patterned section remains behind a “Ghirardelli” sign. The colorful stained glass windows beneath that sign are also still in place. The status of the mural below the windows was not known.
On another wall, crews have removed the eagle sign and additional paneling, exposing plywood. Most of the roof shingles are gone, and supports visible on one roof are intended for a large illuminated sign. Another section of the building has been stripped to its studs, with previously visible insulation no longer present.
The latest work follows the removal of large signs and the entrance overhang reported in July. The Ghirardelli location has operated at Disney Springs since 1996.
The refurbishment is expected to add indoor seating and help reduce wait times. According to the report, the shop is expected to reopen in spring 2027.
