Theme Park Report

Construction is advancing across the future Monstropolis area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where recent work has revealed new facade details at The Glob Theater and Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza. The project is targeting a phased opening beginning in 2027, although Disney has not announced specific opening dates for individual locations. According to BlogMickey, scaffolding covering part of The Glob Theater has been removed, making the facade visible again after several months. Cream-colored dentil trim now runs along the roofline, while steel brackets extend from the brick wall at intervals. The supports are positioned where attraction signage is expected to be installed. The Glob Theater is one of four confirmed Monstropolis locations identified for the 2027 opening target. The others are Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza, Harryhausen’s, and a merchandise shop. At the former PizzeRizzo building, crews have begun installing white, zigzag-shaped trim along the roofline of Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza. A weathered wooden water tower remains visible above scaffolding covering much of the structure. Disney has confirmed that the quick-service restaurant will be themed around Archie, a six-legged Fear Tech mascot described as a fixture at both Fear Tech and Monsters University. Additional exterior details include a faceted corner section painted in rust and bronze tones, with rivet-like bolt heads designed to resemble weathered metal. The restaurant is planned next to the Monsters University Alumni Club, a dining space themed around the school’s student clubs, fraternities, and sororities. The entrance columns for Monstropolis have also been reinstalled after previously being removed. The new columns are currently unfinished precast concrete and include electrical wiring, with small square openings along the seams for conduit or wiring access. BlogMickey reported that the updated installation may address wiring requirements that were not included in the earlier columns. The work is taking place in the former Muppets Courtyard, where facade modifications have accompanied the development of Monstropolis. Disney has confirmed the general 2027 phased-opening target but has not provided more precise timing for any of the area’s locations.
