Six Flags is planning two announcements this week, with the company expected to discuss family accessibility on Monday and its thrill-ride offerings on Tuesday, according to Theme Park Insider.
The first announcement will address making Six Flags experiences “more accessible for families,” the outlet reported, citing a company media representative. The second is intended to “reinforce Six Flags' position as the home of world-class thrills.”
Those announcements are separate from a planned update from Six Flags Magic Mountain regarding its Vekoma Thrill Glider coaster. Theme Park Insider said the park’s announcement is scheduled for Thursday.
The source did not provide additional details about the subjects of the Monday and Tuesday announcements or specify what information Six Flags Magic Mountain will release about the coaster.
Several other theme park developments are scheduled during the week of September 6. Walt Disney World’s new Magic of Disney Animation pavilion at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is set to open officially on September 14, with a media preview planned for Wednesday. SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream event is scheduled to begin Friday at its Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio parks. The event will run on select nights through Halloween in Orlando and San Diego, while San Antonio is scheduled to receive an additional night on November 1.
Hong Kong Disneyland is also scheduled to mark its 21st birthday on Saturday, September 12. The park opened on September 12, 2005.
Theme Park Insider also listed several upcoming refurbishment closures. At Disneyland, Indiana Jones Adventure is scheduled to close September 8 with no reopening date provided, while the Mark Twain Riverboat is scheduled to close from September 8 through 11. Mad Tea Party is set to close September 14 with no reopening date listed, followed by a September 14–16 closure for Tom Sawyer Island.
Elsewhere, The Untrainable Dragon at Universal Epic Universe is scheduled to close September 15–20. Volcano Bay is scheduled to close for the season October 26, with a planned return on or before April 1, 2027. The report also lists future closures and reopenings at Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and its parks, including the planned November 20 reopening of Jurassic Park River Adventure at Islands of Adventure.
